Following talks with the club the unpopular captain has asked to leave according to skysports.com, his agent Tony Finnigan citing a lack of support from fans and an inability from the club to give him assurances about his future.
"I can confirm that Nigel Reo-Coker has officially handed in a transfer request with West Ham United football club," Finnigan told skysports.com
"Nigel hopes his future will be resolved in the next few weeks."
