OK, as David Brent would say, "hypocrite warning." If the decision had been given against us maybe my tune would be different. But dont let a contencious decision take away from a good performance. We dominated large parts of the Middlesbrough game, had the most possession and could have wrapped the game up before half time.
A little bit of luck which wouldnt usually go the way of West Ham has, but I still say we thoroughly deserved the three points and Steve cant argue that his side were outplayed for two thirds of the play.
It was a good performance, Yossi once again outstanding and unlucky with an angled shot, pacey and terrifying with the overall result of heavily staining the boro defence a nice shade of brown. Teddy proved yet again he is the pivot of the Hammers team, both inspiring and effective. I see the super sub role as the most efficient use of the old boy, after the half or on sixty minutes when the pace has slackened to his natural rhythm and he is all the more dangerous.
Paul Konchesky is absolutely fucking brilliant. He provides width and crosses down the left where Matty Etherington has struggled and is for the most part solid defensively. Whether the ball crossed the line or not, it was Koncho's deadly ball which led to Riggott's very ropey response.
Shaka didnt disappoint either. A fine save to tip the ball round the post the highlight of a solid performance really shows he is still on his game and strangely enough for the first time I have real confidence in the three main keepers at UP; of course Carroll, Shaka and Walker.
But dont let me forget the unsung heroes. The defence as a whole looked more solid than in previous weeks, Repka returned to putting in some effort, and Nigel Reo-Coker was superb.
West Ham made the most of this home fixture, something we'll have to keep on doing. As Pards said, November will be tough, lets hope the momentum continues. With Liverpool looking a shadow of previous seasons perhaps this is the best time to play them. As far as london derbies go, form goes out the window and its all down to the steel of the team on the day. Im confident we can give Spurs a run for their money. Let's hope Yossi's army are on the up.
