Nigel missed Friday’s 2-1 loss to Austria with an ankle injury but was back to his outstanding best against the young Poles.
Chelsea’s Carlton Cole got the first English goal after 18 minutes before Charlton’s Jerome Thomas added a second three minutes later. Newcastle’s Steven Taylor then scored the third but Poland pulled one back through Marcin Kikut on 38 minutes.
Throughout the second half England’s youngsters failed to add to the score despite dominating the game until. Then, with only 13 minutes left Poland’s Pawel Strak was dismissed for a second bookable offence. This allowed England to push forward and Steven Taylor managed to score his second goal of the game to make it a comfortable 4-1 victory.
