Glenn and Michael have an off-field connection, and a reliable source has informed us that the two are likely to team up in the off-season. Ricketts is a player that Roeder really wants, and Glenn's determination in the transfer market should see the forward heading for Upton Park in the coming months.
The powerful attacker has had quite an impressive season, with 15 goals in 34 appearances for Bolton, as well as a full England cap, following his debut in February against Holland in Amsterdam.
Viewed as a player for the present, as well as the future, Michael would be the perfect foil for any of West Ham's three leading strikers. With his large size and strength, it would appear to be a match made in heaven if he were to team up with Jermain Defoe up front. It would certainly add to the firepower at West Ham, which has been problematic at times during this season.
Glenn has already expressed his desire to shift some of the dead wood at the club, but this would probably still not be anough to finance the player, who would probably command a fee in the region of £6m.
As usual, check back here for any developments in this story.
