Zola is widely reported to be the first-choice candidate after the club held interviews with all of the shortlist this week.
A source close to the former Italy manager Donadoni said, "Roberto is grateful for the opportunity and the idea of working in England very much appealed. However, he feels that there are different views held by different people at the club and, perhaps, the timing is not right for him to manage the Premier League club.
"Roberto, therefore, will withdraw his candidacy for the manager's job at West Ham."
